Hearts Pest Management, Inc., owned by Gerry Weitz (structural and agricultural pest
control operator) and his wife, Karen Shaw, Phd. Molecular Biology/Genetics, provides
residential, landscape and commercial services throughout San Diego and Southwest
Riverside Counties. With senior technology management experience at two of the
best run American companies, ADP and Ernst and Young, Gerry evolved a philosophy
of pest control unique to the industry, creating the “consulting technician”, (see
Company Philosophy below). Karen brings to Hearts 30 years of scientific
management and research at Johnson and Johnson and Schering-Plough
pharmaceuticals, positioning Hearts as a company with extensive knowledge of
biochemical interactions and human safeguard systems.
Together, Gerry and Karen have grown Hearts to become a major presence in the San
Diego pest control marketplace. As of January 2005, Hearts has grown 500% since
purchasing the business in January 2002. Hearts has strived to retain the personal
touch of a small entity in relations with customers and employees, while striving for
excellence and consistency of service as the organization expands. Hearts now
provides service throughout San Diego County and the greater Temecula/Murietta
region, with specialties in rodent, bee, gopher and bird control, as well as standard
general pest services. Hearts has also become one of the few pest control companies
in this region licensed to perform both structural and landscape services.
Hearts is a proud member in good standing with the Better Business Bureau and the
local chamber of commerce. Hearts is also a member of the Symbiot Pest Management
Network, which allows companies to establish national and regional contracts, while

control industry. To this end, we look for the brightest and train our technicians to
view themselves as consultants. Our "consulting technicians" are patient,
knowledgeable and ready to provide best-of-practice treatment. Our jobs are

someone who cares. When our customers ask us to reach into our bag for in-depth
